Thermostats, timers and switches can be
hardwired to heating equipment to allow greater temperature control. We carry a range of line-voltage thermostats and timers. All of our thermostats operate on regular house voltage (120 volts), although some are dual voltage (120/240volt) and either have a digital display or stylish control knob. Please see our products page for more information regarding Thermostats. (

Installing a thermostat, timer or switch is a relatively simple task but should always be conducted by a licenced electrician. The following description is merely an explanatory guide only. The active wires on most resistive heating equipment can be wired together in parallel and attached to the output side of a line voltage thermostat. The active wire of the household power supply can then be wired into the input side of the thermostat. The neutral wires of the heating equipment should also be wired together but they bypass the thermostat and are wired directly to the neutral of the house wiring.
We recommend that a recessed receptacle be used as an interface for the electrical connections. Again please consult an electrician for any and all work involving electrical wiring. Any time 120 volt wiring is worked on, extreme care must be taken. Please refer to the Thermostat or timers specific instructions for proper installation for that particular product and the Hardwiring Guide on our website (click here). . Each of the thermostats we offer may have slightly different wiring schematics shown in the instructions but the principle is essentially the same. Copies of thermostat and timer instructions can be downloaded from the specific product page.
Finally, keep in mind when installing any thermostat, switch or timer, what the total wattage capacity of the thermostat is (eg. 2000watts). Always ensure that you do not exceed the total wattage capacity of the thermostat or timer when you use them to control electric heaters or other heating equipment.
