Everything You Need To Know About Convection Wall Heaters

23rd Mar 2022

                  plug-in electric heater.

Convection heaters are widely used to heat an entire space. It takes a while for them to heat an entire room, but the warmth they provide can linger for a long time. This makes them excellent for places like homes, workplaces, and stores, where people tend to stay for long periods.

Convection  wall heaters, just like any other type of heater, have distinct features that make them the perfect choice for specific uses. We'll take a deeper look at what convection heaters have to offer and how they function in this post. We'll also go over some of the benefits and drawbacks, as well as answer several frequently asked questions about convection wall heaters.

What are Convection Wall Heaters?

As the name suggests, a convection heater uses convection currents in its operation. There are different types of convection heaters available today, and they differ from each other in terms of their functions such as heating element, energy source, efficiency and other external and internal features.

The Envi convection wall heater is a wonderful option if you're looking to switch to convection wall heaters. It has a wide temperature range and due to its narrow width, it takes up relatively little space.

Features of the Envi Convection Wall Heaters

  • If the heater is removed from the wall, Wall-Sens(TM) Technology safely shuts electricity to it.
  • 500 watts - low wattage convection heating that does not dry out the air, does not trip the circuit breaker but is yet powerful enough to heat a 130 to 150 square foot space.
  • To tuck away the messy power cord, there is a convenient Cordset storage inside the heater. (Only plug-in models are available)
  • Hardwired models are also available, and are permitted for commercial use.
  • UL and CSA (Canadian) safety criteria are met (All models).

How Convection Wall Heaters Work

Convection heaters use air to transmit heat, unlike radiant heaters that use electromagnetic waves. This convection process involves the movement of convection currents across the heating element and throughout the body of the heater. The surrounding air is heated and rises as it expands.

The working principle is simple: cool air is denser than hot air. As hot air rises and comes in contact with cool air which has been displaced, it gets heated up and consequently rises. This process continues until all the air in the room is heated up or till you turn off the device, either manually or automatically.

The Envi convection wall heater however went a step further from the "normal" convection process.

To fine-tune the Envi heater, dozens of heating methods were tested, which led to the discovery of the concept referred to as the "stack effect."

This served as the foundation for the final Envi heater design, which was later patented. The Envi heater's natural convection, fanless heating is improved by replicating several paths, or "stacks," inside it.

This method increases the flow of cool air into the heater from the room's floor and maximises heat transmission out the top.

As a result of the procedure, warm air is slowly transferred about the room.

Pros and Cons of Convection Wall Heaters

One advantage that is peculiar to all types of convection heaters is the ability to heat the whole room. This has made convection heaters a good choice for places where people are likely to spend more time such as living rooms, industrial spaces, and so on.

In the same vein, one of the most common disadvantages of convection heaters is that they produce noise. Only fanless convection heaters like the Envi wall heaters are excluded from this drawback.

Frequently Asked Questions About Convection Wall Heaters

Envi wall heaters vs standard convection heaters?

  • The operating cost of each Envi wall mounted heater is about 4-5 cents per hour. In comparison, fan and radiator heaters, as well as other types of central heating systems, can cost up to 18 cents per hour (gas and electric).
  • Envi wall heaters do not dry out the air and do not circulate dust or allergens around your home, whereas regular or baseboard heaters do.
  • Standard or baseboard heaters have a huge fan that produces noise when turned on, whereas Envi wall heaters have no fans or moving parts and are completely silent.
  • Envi wall heaters consume about 500 watts of energy as against standard heaters that use as much as 1500 watts.

Are Envi wall heaters safe?

Yes. On the market, the Envi heater is the safest convection wall heater. The Envi has a three-year warranty, uses less energy, and is simple to set up and use.

How efficient are Envi heaters?

Using Envi heaters will help you cut your heating cost incredibly. Dual stack convection technology is used in Envi heaters, resulting in high energy efficiency. The Envi heaters are powered by low-wattage technology and consume only 500 watts of power.

Do convection heaters use a lot of electricity?

While the cost of heating your apartment or home in the winter might be annoying, convection heaters are quite affordable and can help you save money on your heating bill. A typical convection heater consumes 1500 watts of power per hour. The cost of using the heater is determined by local electricity rates. Although standard rates of using a convection heater might cost roughly $0.20 per hour, Envi convection wall heaters cost 4-5 cents per hour. Compared to other heaters, this can save a lot of money (about 16 to 17 per cent) because you'll just be heating one room rather than your entire house.

Can I leave the Envi wall convector heater on overnight?

Fixed radiators and the Envi convection wall heaters can be used overnight, but free-standing electric radiators can be dangerous if left unattended since they can be knocked over, which is why it is not recommended to leave them running all night.

Do Envi convector wall heaters cause condensation?

To understand how condensation occurs we need to go back to our science classes in elementary school. The first and probably most fundamental lesson we need to remind ourselves is that cool air holds less moisture than warm air. We were taught that warm air rapidly cools and condenses when it comes in contact with a cold surface. This is what is experienced in the home, on windows or outside walls.

We have seen from our science classes in school that rising warm air will immediately condense when it comes in contact with a colder surface. Uninsulated walls or badly glazed windows can become areas where condensation occurs.

There are other issues as well. Even if windows and doors are firmly shut, convection currents cause the coolest air to be sensed as a draught at floor level. Dust that aggravates allergies will also be dispersed by moving air.

Are convection heaters energy efficient?

As earlier stated, convection wall heaters like the Envi heaters are energy-efficient when used for longer periods. They warm up more slowly than radiant heaters, but over time they warm up larger areas.

Some convection heaters are also linked to smart thermostats that monitor the temperature in the room. You can choose the desired temperature, such as a comfortable 74 degrees Fahrenheit, and the heater will switch off on its own, saving you money on electricity.

Wrapping up…

It's all about convenience.

Convection heaters can be costly, but they provide you more control over the temperature in each of your rooms than a central system. The Envi  wall heaters spice things up in no small way — giving you a stylish and cost-effective device with absolute control.

Another advantage of the Envi heater is that they are more easily integrated into a home's interior than conventional heaters.

However, the most compelling feature of the Envi convection heaters is that they generate a comfortable type of heat that warms your home.
